The Hype about HIIT

Most Yogathletes are very familiar with High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and are avid participants in GETnFIT and the new GETnRIP'D classes. We love these fun, fast-paced workouts and know they make us feel great. But here are some benefits of HIIT classes that you may not already know:
It increases your capacity for exercise
Better endurance & performance means you get better at all classes
It increases carb & fat burning
It’s even been found to reduce that oh-so-hard-to-lose abdominal fat
It increases muscle mass, but not bulk
You’re building strong, lean muscles that look and feel great
It increases cardiovascular fitness
Who doesn’t want to be healthier!?!
In addition to the above, HIIT requires so much energy that after you’re done working out, your body has to keep on burning calories for the rest of the day to replenish your depleted oxygen stores (a.k.a. EPOC). So these benefits last beyond your hour in the studio!
Such benefits are similar to those seen with endurance training, except without the huge time commitment. In fact, many studies have shown these improvements in as little as two weeks of HIIT training every other day.
